To travel from Shinagawa to Nagoya, the Shinkansen (bullet train) is the fastest and most efficient option. Shinagawa Station is a major stop on the Tokaido Shinkansen line. The available Shinkansen trains are the Nozomi, Hikari, and Kodama. The Nozomi offers the most direct journey with the fewest stops.

We recommend purchasing tickets in advance, either online, via ticket machines at the station, or at JR ticket counters (Midori no Madoguchi). Once you have your ticket, follow the signs to the Shinkansen platforms. The trains are known for their punctuality, comfort, and efficient use of space, even with standard-sized luggage.

The cost of a Shinkansen ticket from Shinagawa to Nagoya varies depending on the type of train and the chosen seat. For a non-reserved seat, the price is generally around 10,000 JPY. For a reserved seat in ordinary class, the fare is approximately 10,500 to 11,500 JPY. A Green Car (first class) seat is more expensive, offering more space and comfort.

Please note that the Nozomi, being the fastest, may be slightly more expensive than the Hikari or Kodama. Prices are fixed and do not fluctuate like airline tickets.

The duration of the Shinkansen journey between Shinagawa and Nagoya depends on the type of train taken:
