The most efficient way to travel from Tokyo to Shizuoka is by Shinkansen (bullet train) on the Tokaido Shinkansen line. There are frequent departures from Tokyo Station. "Kodama" and "Hikari" trains serve Shizuoka directly. The faster "Nozomi" train does not stop at Shizuoka.

The cost of a Shinkansen ticket between Tokyo and Shizuoka generally ranges between 5,500 and 6,500 yen for a non-reserved or reserved standard class seat. Prices may vary slightly depending on the train type (Kodama or Hikari) and whether booked in advance or not. You can check exact fares at JR ticket machines or counters.

The Shinkansen journey duration between Tokyo and Shizuoka depends on the type of train taken:
"Hikari" trains complete the journey in approximately 1 hour.
